HQIADS DINING-IN 2025
“Military dining-in is a formal ceremony traditionally held by military units to foster camaraderie and esprit de corps. While the practice is thought to have formally begun in the 16th century, historical records suggest that militaries have held formal dinners as far back as the Roman Legions. Headquarters Integrated Area Defence System (HQIADS) upheld this enduring tradition on 7 August 2025. The event was graced by a total of 63 personnel comprising HQIADS staff accompanied by their spouses, who were invited in recognition of their invaluable support to HQIADS members – support that is essential to the continued success of both FPDA and HQIADS. The dining-in served to reinforce military customs, discipline, and unity, while also providing a meaningful opportunity for cultural exchange among the diverse HQIADS community.”
Key extracts from Commander IADS, AVM Nathan Christie: “ (1) Interoperability – heart of what we do in HQIADS, building lasting relationships based on mutual respect and trust , (2) Camaraderie – mate ship, the heart of friendship and non-transactional interpersonal relationships and (3) Cohesion – operate in a team for a cohesive outcome, advance the FPDA arrangements beneficial to all 5 nations and underpins peace and stability in the region”
